Dear novel #3: novel as terrorist operative

Dear novel,It has come to our attention that you have contravened the Author/Text Code of Conduct and that disciplinary action may be required. The charges are as follows.1. Your characters are AWOL and are suspected of renegade activity. Some reports say that they’ve developed lives of their own.2. You were instructed to follow structural rules. You did not follow them. You were presented with a perfectly serviceable plot, yet this plot is now unrecognisable. Charges of criminal damage may follow. Eye-witness accounts place your characters at the scene of the crime. They were spotted burning the map.3. You have been declared bankrupt due to an assessment of your debts. When time spent, lost earnings and relationship sacrifices are taken into account, we find that you’ll never pay back what you owe. Please attend your disciplinary hearing at our offices. (Note: if you're represented by an agent and a publisher, the prosecution may take a kinder view of your offences. In fact, there's a chance ALL CHARGES WILL BE DROPPED. Think about it. You know what you need to do.)Yours truly,ATCC Committee (on behalf of the author)
